A bucket list is something everyone should have. It is a series of tasks that you would like to complete before “kicking the bucket” and dying.

These ideas aren't meant to be morbid. Instead, they're a collection of inspirational goals that you'd like to accomplish in your life.

A good bucket list is balanced. There should be items on the list that are easy to accomplish as you grow from a child to an adult, such as getting a full-time job and paying rent.

These simple bucket list ideas might be followed by more complex versions of the same tasks, such as “have a job that pays a minimum of 100K a year” and “own your own home”.

(Side note: If you need extra cash to pay for these ideas, then I recommend checking out the Digit app and here is a review of it.)

Finally, there are the more challenging ideas that you hope to accomplish someday, such as ” reaching one million dollars in savings, assets, and investments” or “owning a beach house.”

There are thousands of bucket list items, so it would be hard to list them all here. Instead, we have broken down some more inspiring goals into a list of 553 ideas, divided into different categories.

As you review this list, write down the items that resonate with your “personal why.” Then, add the ideas that sound like a significant challenge. Then, the fun stuff. Then, you can share ideas with your significant other. And finally, here are the ideas that will help with your self-improvement efforts.

Okay, let's dive into the 553 bucket list items…

Travel is awesome, but unfortunately, it is often delayed until we have “time” and “money” to enjoy it, which many people equate to retirement. (That's why I recommend checking out some of the 16 money-saving apps that can help you with these goals.)

If the opportunity arises, try to cross off travel bucket list items before that elusive “some time” comes around. It is priceless to enjoy some of these items while still young and energetic.

One Final Thought on Bucket Lists

Here is a secret. Bucket lists are never meant to be completed. Who wants to be 50 and reach the end of their bucket list? What are you supposed to do then? Just stop enjoying life?

Keep most items on your bucket list achievable, but make the number of items and the amount of “tough” completions complex enough that finishing “everything” would be very tough. Then, if you get close, add more things to do. (To make things easier and more fun, choose a bucket list template and get started on your bucket list.)

It would be best if you also considered what activities should not be on your bucket list because they are simply not important to you. Add those to your anti-bucket list instead and save your time.

If you already have a family, you can create a family bucket list. Start by asking your spouse and your kids what they want to do.

There are “normal” bucket list ideas—and extra tough ones. To complete big milestones, you might also want to think of some ways to reward yourself.

The one main obstacle to achieving many of the items on your bucket list is being able to afford these ideas and learn how to implement them.

So if you want three great resources, then I'd suggest checking out:

  1. Thanks for this!

I definitely added some of these ideas to my personal bucket list.

Kinda young for me to be thinking about a bucket list but age shouldn’t really matter!

  2. Plenty of ideas indeed of things to do and live. I thought I was getting closer to the end of my own bucket list but I might add a few more things now. No matter what, we all need to take care of ours and help our loved ones realize theirs too.
